One local crew for every paving job

TXST Paving Company is a licensed and insured paving contractor based at 3901 E University Ave in Georgetown. Paving Contractor in Georgetown, explained

What a Paving Contractor Does in Georgetown, Georgetown TX01

What a Paving Contractor Does in Georgetown

Paving is more than laying hot asphalt. A good paving job starts below the surface, and in Georgetown that means dealing with two very different kinds of ground. East of I-35, around Westinghouse Rd and out toward Hutto and Taylor, you are on Blackland Prairie clay that swells after a storm and shrinks hard in a dry August. West of I-35, toward Lake Georgetown and Liberty Hill, the ground is shallow limestone and caliche that drains fast but can be rough to grade.

So our paving work covers the whole stack: excavation and grading, subgrade stabilization where clay calls for it, compacted flexible base, hot mix asphalt laid to the right thickness for the traffic, and the finish work like curbing, striping and sealcoat. When one contractor owns all of it, there is nobody to point fingers at if something settles. That includes the details people forget to ask about: tying into the street apron the way the city wants it, setting a culvert under a ranch drive, and keeping a fire lane clear on a commercial site.

Paving Services We Offer, Georgetown TX02

Paving Services We Offer

We split paving into four service pages so you can find the one that fits your job. Each one goes into detail on thickness, base, timing and what drives the cost.

Driveway Paving

Residential driveways in the subdivisions, ranch drives, and long private lanes out past Jarrell and Salado. We cover the chip seal versus hot mix decision honestly, because for a half-mile lane the answer is not always hot mix.

Parking Lot Paving

New lots built from subgrade to stripes for retail pads, offices, churches, schools and RV storage. Drainage design, base thickness for delivery trucks, accessible spaces to ADA and Texas Accessibility Standards, and fire lane striping.

Commercial Paving Contractor

For property managers, developers, HOAs and facility directors who need a contractor that shows up with a schedule, phases the work so tenants can keep parking, and sends clean paperwork.

Parking Lot Asphalt Contractor

Existing lots. Overlays, milling, patching, sealcoating and restriping scheduled around business hours so a Williams Drive storefront never closes because of us.

Why Georgetown Ground and Weather Change the Build, Georgetown TX03

Why Georgetown Ground and Weather Change the Build

Three things wear out pavement here, and none of them is winter. The first is clay movement. Houston Black clay can move enough in one drought-to-flood cycle to crack a thin driveway from edge to edge. We answer that with thicker compacted base, lime or cement treatment where the clay is bad, and edges that are supported rather than left hanging.

The second is heat. A parking lot on University Ave sits far hotter than the air on a July afternoon, and UV turns fresh black asphalt grey and brittle within a few summers if it is never sealed. That is why we talk about sealcoating at the time we pave, not years later.

The third is water. Spring and fall storms drop inches in an hour, and standing water is what turns a small crack into a failed base. Every job we build is graded to move water off the pavement and into a swale, curb or inlet.

Hard freezes like February 2021 and December 2022 do open cracks, but they are a once-in-a-while problem. Heat, UV and clay are the everyday ones, so that is what we build for.

How to Choose a Paving Contractor in Williamson County

You will get several bids for any real paving job. Here is what separates them.

Base is spelled out.The estimate should say how many inches of compacted base and how many inches of hot mix, not just "pave driveway."
Drainage is addressed. If nobody talks about where the water goes, keep looking.
Edges and transitions.Ask how they will tie into your garage slab, the street or the existing lot.
Licensed and insured, in writing. We provide it with every estimate.
Local references. We are 5.0-star rated on Google, and our reviewers include a Georgetown realtor who refers her clients and a shop owner we have done repeat work for over several years.
A real schedule.Paving needs dry weather and a plant that is running. A contractor should tell you the window and stick to it.

Which Paving Service Fits Your Job?

Not sure? Send us a photo or an address and we will tell you which one you need before we quote it. Repairs on pavement that is otherwise sound, and concrete work like curbs and dumpster pads, are covered under our asphalt and concrete hubs in the main menu.

Areas We Serve

We are based in Georgetown and work all of Williamson County plus the north edge of Travis County and the south edge of Bell County.

Distance matters on a paving job. Hot mix has to reach the site from the plant at the right temperature, so a crew that is twenty minutes away instead of an hour lays a better mat. Working close to home also means we can be back the same week if you want an edge touched up or a question answered in person.

FAQ

Paving Contractor questions, answered

Do you pave both residential and commercial jobs?

Yes. The same crews that pave a driveway in Sun City build retail lots on Williams Drive and private streets in HOA communities. Residential work is usually one or two days. Commercial work is phased so the property stays open. Each of the four service pages above explains what is involved for that type of job.

How thick should asphalt be in Georgetown?

It depends on what drives on it and what is underneath. A residential driveway is usually 2 to 3 inches of hot mix over 6 inches of compacted base. Parking stalls are similar, but drive lanes, dumpster pads and truck routes get 3 inches or more over 8 to 10 inches of base. On expansive clay east of I-35 we go thicker on base or stabilize the subgrade.

When is paving season in Central Texas?

Most of the year. Hot mix needs warm, dry ground, and Georgetown gives us that from early spring through late fall, with plenty of workable days in winter too. We avoid paving right before a big storm and we do not sealcoat when rain is coming. The busiest months are late spring and summer, so book early if you have a deadline.

Is TXST Paving licensed and insured?

Yes. TXST Paving is licensed and insured, and we include proof of insurance with every written estimate. If you are a property manager or board and need a certificate naming your entity, ask and we will send it before work starts. We are also 5.0-star rated on Google by local customers.

How far from Georgetown do you travel?

Our home base is on E University Ave in Georgetown. We regularly work in Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Hutto, Pflugerville, Taylor, Liberty Hill, Jarrell, Salado and north Austin. For larger commercial or ranch road jobs we will go further. Send us the address and we will tell you right away.
